Silent Ignatian Retreats with the Heralds of the Gospel
Looking for a Catholic spiritual retreat in Canada? The Heralds of the Gospel offer Ignatian retreats, silent retreats, parish missions, and weekend spiritual retreats designed to help you deepen your relationship with Jesus Christ through prayer, reflection, and the Sacraments.
Whether you are seeking spiritual renewal, discernment, or simply time away from the distractions of everyday life, our retreats provide an atmosphere of silence, prayer, and Eucharistic adoration where you can encounter God more deeply.
The Spiritual Tradition of Our Retreats
The retreats offered by the Heralds of the Gospel are inspired by the rich spiritual tradition of Saint Ignatius of Loyola.
In the 1970s, the founder of the Heralds of the Gospel, Monsignor João Scognamiglio Clá Dias, participated in an Ignatian retreat together with several companions. Deeply impressed by the profound spirituality, wisdom, understanding of human nature, and practical path to holiness found in the Spiritual Exercises of Saint Ignatius, he incorporated this invaluable tradition into the formation and apostolic life of the Heralds.
Today, these retreats continue to help many people grow in their love for God and the Catholic faith.
Retreats for Heralds of the Gospel Members
Every Herald is encouraged to make an annual silent retreat lasting from five to fourteen days.
Each retreat follows the timeless structure of the Ignatian Spiritual Exercises while exploring different spiritual themes appropriate to participants’ age, vocation, and stage of life. This allows every retreat to remain fresh while preserving its rich spiritual foundation.
Participants experience:
- Daily Holy Mass
- Eucharistic Adoration before the Blessed Sacrament
- Four spiritual conferences each day
- Guided periods of silent meditation
- Private prayer
- Community prayer
- Spiritual reading during meals
- Daily opportunities for the Sacrament of Reconciliation
The entire retreat is conducted in silence, creating the ideal environment to listen attentively to God’s voice.
